1. Check the import duty on the product—before you buy it.

Check the product custom Tariff number for advice regarding the tariff classification of goods,
rates of duty, the interpretation or application of the Customs Tariff, permits which may be
required for certain goods or information

2. Make sure you know the restrictions.

MOC

Israel has open and transparent Importation regime. While in principle almost all products are allowed to enter Israel, for some products there are licenses requirements.

The Free Import Order and its annexes set out general requirements for importation, which goods need permits and/or licenses and which authority or official body issues the permit or license.

SII

The Standards Institution of Israel – (SII) is Israel’s official body for the preparation and publication of Israeli standards. Today SII incorporates Standardization, Testing, Certification and Training activities, under one roof and has laboratories in almost all technological areas, providing testing and inspection services to industry and commerce, as well as regulatory services to government.

MOH

To obtain permission to import and sale medical equipment, Medical Devices Registration IS required. The Department of Medical Devices is belongs to the Ministry of Health, and is responsible for issuing permits in order to import and sale medical equipment in Israel.

In order to promote medical product in Israel, it need to be registered in MOH and the process is complex and requires professional assistance

Medical product registration require periodic renewal from time to time according to MOH Guidelines, he registration process includes collecting many documents from the manufacturer and importer and submission of the documents to MOH.

Sometimes Ministry of Health will ask to get additional material, including the manufacturer’s quality certificates for each product, test reports from accredited test laboratory, various business information and / or additional business information in order to classify to medical product.

Only after careful examination MOH will give the desire approval.

Accredited Test laboratories and body certification under ISO 17025

Sometimes the product that we want to import doesn’t meet the right standards according to the required regulation and we will require testing the product by the right standards.

The importer needs to know if the product already passed any testing before. And if the tested done by accredited laboratory and he might save time and money by laying on the tested that been done or maybe laying on part of the testing that has done before
